I think no one in Taiwan will say Taiwan was never a part of China. It also was a part of the Japanese Empire. If Japan started spouting such nonsense, no one would for a second see it but for what it is -- wishful thinking, bullying, etc.

To argue that Taiwan is a part of the PRC without the people who live in Taiwan's consent is a sure sign of a brainwashed, non-thinking.

As for having to fly through Hong Kong, I have done is 50 times. Yes, it is a pain. But until the mainland is willing to give up it's bullying ways, a little inconvenience seems worth it to me.
