What about upgrading from a studio Island View to one of the corner ocean front 1 BR units? In other words, as a 5 Star Elite, if the room is available, can you get the best room on the property regardless of what you own?
I'm not the expert on this. I know a lot about the program, but there are too many devils in the details.
The way I "think" it works is you get a one step upgrade in advance. You get more on the day of arrival, if available.
I suggest you ask the agent to put a request for whatever view you want in the comment field.
The problem is there are so many devils in the details that even the agents get confused about how to handle certain things. Unfortunately, it's not just an SVO problem. My siblings own lots of timeshare in varying companies. You should see the issues they have to deal with. They make SVO look saintly!
