Saab 340, DASH8 where and how?
After a flight next month to PDX-CHO (IAD-CHO on a SAAB340), I will have flown every current plane in the United fleet except the DASH8.
As I thought about this two questions came up:
1. Where does United fly the DASH8?
2. I'm assuming that SAAB340s are made in Sweden or Scandinavia somewhere, so how does one get such a short range plane to the States? Likewise, how does say Boeing get shorter range 737s to Africa or SE Asia from Washington (island hopping? keep the shore on the horizon?)? Perhaps these are silly questions for some, but if anyone has an answer, I'd like to know.
