Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of WT+ one-way?
I have been checking U class to DEL for the end of April daily (OK, several times a day

) since I booked a T class return there a couple of weeks ago. Early this morning UK time, U class opened for my return trip ^ Armed with coffee I forced myself to stay awake until 6am UK time approached and was straight on to the EC. After initially telling me there was no U on the outbound so I couldn't be upgraded (yawn), I insisted, quoted AskBA 1784 and after being put on hold the girl begrudgingly (mind you, it
was 6am!) said it had been processed and would be re-ticketed within 48 hours. Almost immediately once I was off the phone, 12,500 miles left my account and CheckMyTrip (though not MMB) showed me in 62J ^ 10 mins later, I was back in MMB like a shot and moved to my preferred 64K (oddly, CMT only showed 62J as free, but MMB had the UD wide open), a very happy bunny
The dilemma is this though - recent reports on here suggest that's it for this booking. Game over. If U class opens up on my outbound (and Sod's law/The Angered Gods(TM) of late says it will), I can't go back and MFU it (which seems utterly stupid to me; there's no fees/charges/increased taxes to collect, I am trying to spend the miles, it costs BA nothing different to me doing a return MFU originally if I could have, etc.). So, my question is, what would my fellow FTers have done?
1. Jumped on it like a shot as I did so one would have something to look forward to on the return leg from DEL (not a nice airport experience by all accounts!) and treat one's self as one attempts to work up towards the inevitable injections one is dreading even considering for this very short trip
2. Rolled the dice and waited to see if U opened up both ways soon (background: April
has steadily been opening up bit by bit, every day) at the risk of losing the return U class totally?
I am now beginning to wonder if I did the right thing in a fit of over-excited pique in a remote Dallas hotel! Not that I won’t
try to MFU if U opens up on the outbound anyway – IIRC our helpful BA staff (
smashmouth?) said there was in theory no real reason for this to be impossible.
Thoughts?
Phil
PS Either way, keep your fingers crossed for me...CMT is still showing my old ticket number so far...
