CRJs were quite a step up from the prop planes they ostensibly replaced, but are a a bigger step down from mainline service. The seat pitch is not that bad due to the thin padding but the width is confining.

My observations:
- The bulkhead seats have fixed armrests dividing the seat between you and your seatmate. You will have even less wiggle room.
- The exit rows are not that much more roomy and have wierd padding.
- I have had the most comfortable flights on CRJs when the seat next to mine was unoccupied, regardless of row (except bulkhead). If I have to book a CRJ, I now check delta.com daily to see if I can move to an empty row if the flight is lightly booked. It won't happen that often, though and I have seen them fill up a relatively empty flight with non-revs.
