Finnair future fleet changes

Finnair has some interesting fleet changes coming up, as outlined in Airline World this February:

AY has taken its first Embraer 170s, and has agreed to purchase six Embraer 190s. With some judicious model-swapping from their original planes, AY will wind up with ten E170s and six 100-seat E190s.

The MD-11s are going, but not immediately - in fact, AY will add one more MD-11 this year to bring the total to eight. AY will receive three 303-seat A340-300 Enhanced a/c in 2007 and 2008 to extend Asia services - along with their existing fleet.

From 2011, nine 314-seat A350-900s will begin joining the fleet, and AY will have the option to begin retiring its MD-11s. According to CEO Jukka Hienonen, AY holds flexible options for four other a/c with Airbus, meaning they can order any Airbus aircraft, including smaller 250-seaters if necessary, delay orders, etc.
