I flew AMS-JNB the week before last. There were over 200 open seats in economy, so plenty of room. I was in exit row 9, which was the only row in the Select Seating cabin where the middle seat was occupied. Such are the hazards of booking legroom seats. Two gentlemen seated in 11DE received repeated visits from various uniformed KL employees who enquired about their well-being and wished the a good flight. I was therefore not at all surprised that they were whisked away to the upper deck as soon as the seatbelt signs were switched off. The purser then moved the other two pax in row 9 to 11DE, leaving me with 9ABC to myself. Am I ever glad that I did not book a Z class ticket, as I had originally intended!
