LH serves this ex Soviet Satellite region very well so UA will not bother IMHO.

I flew SYD-SFO-FRA-Azerbaijan late 2005 on UA/LH with excellent connections.

The flight OUT of BAK however was 3.45a.m., so can't imagine UA being happy to have large planes sitting around idle on those kind of slots.
