As far as liquor goes, BKK, HKG and ICN are fairly competitive for products such as Gran Marnier and Bombay Sapphire - even competitive with land crossing prices into Canada. SIN can be good too. My sister paid S$39 (before a 15% discount for SQ membership or some such) for a 1l bottle of Gran Marnier in SIN last week (I paid just under THB 1,200 for it in BKK a year ago, and it was US$1 less in ICN). Cambodia is very cheap for liquor and cigarettes.

Duty free/cheap is an oxymoron. Last month I was through Singapore where I was looking to buy some Champagne(the same experience in HKG and BKK). I know the price of Champagne well in Japan for the brands I usually buy. When I looked at the wine boutique the prices were almost 50% higher that at my Costco in Japan !
NRT duty-free prices seem to be atrocious. Prices are probably on par with, if not higher, than B.C. liqour store prices!
