Can't remember what the occasion was for the street festivities - but it was quite pleasant. Lunch at Wagamama was interesting (nice - no big deal in terms of food - but we enjoyed talking with the people sharing lunch with us at the big table at which we were seated).

Still - it is kind of far away from things for the average tourist (and whenever we go to London - we are average tourists). I live in a very "car-centric" part of the US (Florida) - and I think one of the great charms of London is being able to take off on foot and explore. My husband wears a big knee brace and his foot explorations are somewhat limited - still - I think that even for people with perfect knees - Canary Wharf is a bit "away from it all". Robyn
