Jim, IMO, the best seats are to be found in the exit row (8) on a CRJ. I avoid getting seats in row 1 on an RJ because of the lack of leg room. However, as you may find, in any other row, you'll get a bit more since you can stretch your legs out a bit under the seat in front of you. Of course, YMMV.

Since you like aisle seats and I prefer windows, you and I should get along just fine.
