this is the key -- if i'm trying to get something specific out of a bump or other involuntary rebooking, i make sure to know exactly what to suggest so that the agent's job will be easier if they just give me what i want... then i follow it with "oh, and since we had to make that change, can you adjust my return flight to......."

whenever i book out of PVD or MHT to save money, i'm always following the flight status on the outbound, hoping for a delay i can use to get rebooked out of logan... agents don't often consider alternate airports, probably because people then expect ground transportation. i always let them know i'm willing to use an alternate airport, and will get myself to/from...
