I flew them once on a cheapo to NAS a couple of years ago, wasn't too bad. Their SpritPlus business class (on the MD80 that I flew) is more comfortable than NW's DC9 or A319/320. Now that they're rapidly transitioning to an all new all Airbus fleet, I'm sure that the comfort and reliability factor will continue to improve.
It was interesting seeing the topic of this thread as 10 minutes before I helped a friend book 3 DTW-LGA r/t's on Spirit. They were about the same price as NW, but this is another $650 that NW won't get because of the RoachChoice program.
Now that's called biting off ones own head... why on earth would you spend the same price for a LCC that operates out of the junk terminal and has less daily flights to LGA? Because you have to pay $15 extra to get one of 4 or 5 seats on a plane, which won't bother you if your elite, because most of the elite seats remain available, and shouldn't bother you otherwise, because you wouldn't have had access to the seats in the first place.
