The 25 % are calculated "on the actual distance travelled during the month" (quote: BMI Gold booklet)
downside: no further bonus for First and Business class, and for short flights it's only a very small bonus
upside: if you fly discounted Eco with only 50 % mileage, you'll get 25 % bonus on the total distance which adds up to 75 %.
