That's a non-issue considering all companies have to pay FT staff health care.

While I don't disagree the cash salary part of an airline employee's total compensation is lower due to the travel benefits, the travel benefits (if utilized) themselves can be worth far and above the shortfall in cash salary. The travel benefits as an airlines employee are enormous.

Compare it to a ticket agent for Greyhound.
