I think I acknowledged that I was not comparing apples to apples here....all I was trying to get across is that if your option is buying Premium Economy on VA or using an upgrade cert on US your far better off using an upgrade cert on US to Envoy.

I did do some of that comparison in my original post. I had mentioned that the meals in VA premium economy were not really any better than my meals in US coach going to SNN last year. The service was very simliar between the two. VA was better in Premium economy, but part of what I was trying to get across was that the US coach product was not that far behind. Crappy headphones and paying for booze were the big downsides on US, but the meals were about the same, with the breakfast actually being slightly better in US coach vs PE on VA.

As for sour grapes, thats really not the case. I was grateful to be flying in PE on VA and really enjoyed the adventure. The clubhouse was FANTASTIC, the Limo was nice although I can hire one of those on my own (I got to use their services since we were on the same flight). The seats were really interesting, the layout being so different than what I'm used to it just threw me off maybe. The Envoy seats on the 330 are so familiar to me maybe there is just comfort in what I know You are correct though, I will have to find a way up to UC next time to do the true apples to apples comparison.

I am not disagreeing with anyone here in saying that if the price was the same I would fly VA UC over US Envoy, or VA PE or Economy over US coach. I'm just saying that it didn't appear to me to be THAT much better, to the point where if US was significantly cheaper I would go the US route.

Thanks for the comments!

Sean
