Not 100% on the mark, IMHO. I think it is fairly common for many companies across all industries to give their employees discounts on the products and/or services they produce.
I had the luck to use a friend's access to the Canon Employee Store for some Christmas purchases this past year. On all the junk I bought, the savings probably equalled an F seat on AA
