ICAO Facilitation rules
Under the ICAO Facilitation rules (sorry cannot remember which Annex to Chicago Convention) then crew get special treatment.
Crew do require visas for some countries. Of course, there should be some horrible clashes if their passports were stamped all the time. As said, not every country accepts an Israeli stamp and so on.
