Here is UA's press release dated March 22, 2006:
United strengthened its reach into China this week
by signing a code-share agreement with Shanghai
Airlines.
The agreement extends United's route network from
Shanghai to four key developing business centers in
China -- Shenyang, Chengdu, Dalian and Qingdao from
Shanghai's Pudong International Airport.
In turn, the traveling public in China has improved
non-stop daily access to the United States and
points beyond. United routes listed under the
agreement include Shanghai to Chicago and San
Francisco; San Francisco to Los Angeles, Newark and
New York (John F. Kennedy International Airport);
and Chicago to Newark and New York (LaGuardia
International Airport).
The 11 code-share flights covered by the agreement
are scheduled to commence May 15. At that time,
customers from both carriers will be able to accrue
and redeem frequent flyer miles and have access to
airport lounges supported by both carriers.
The code-share reinforces the link between Shanghai
and Chicago. United's nonstop Shanghai-Chicago
service launched in November 2004, doubling United's
capacity from this booming China city.
