There haven't been enough posts like this one lately... Yet obviously we strive for a repeat of those special flights which, just like the elusive one-in-fifty, I-must-be-drinking-some-kind-of-nectar bottle of fine Bourgogne, keep us coming back for more.

My personal best experience was on a Friday late afternoon / early evening flight from CDG to AMS, up front. Hard week of work, plane suspiciously underloaded. Deliciously correct French-style service with a flirt, a meal service in quality and quantity which was precisely on target including fresh bread, foie gras and petit fours, excellent wine and somehow time for a five minute snooze before landing (and I mean me, not the FAs!). All on a flight which is so short.

It is moments like this one that almost make me nostalgic again for 1991.
