In today's papers it was announced that the MO Chicago will break ground this fall. The hotel will be part of a 930 ft. tower in Illinois Center, overlooking Millenium Park. The upper floors will be dedicated to condos.

All of the sudden, Chicago's luxury hotel market is overflowing with new contenders that will be in direct competion with the old guard: the FS, the RC, the Peninsula and the Park Hyatt. Besides the MO, there is the Trump International Hotel and Towers and the Shangri-La currently under construction. And, in about a month, a new European chain (probably Hotel de Crillon) is supposed to be announced for the Forham Spire.
