Thanks for everyone's tips; after much debate we are leaning towards somewhere civilized yet different in Europe. Possibilities include Croatia (neither of us have been) or some part of Greece I haven't seen, like perhaps Corfu or Crete (I've already been to Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, etc.)

Reasons are: not too far off the beaten (medical) track, and we'd rather "save" the more adventurous destinations for when we can return with a babysitter (and I can dive/ski/trek/whatever!)

So priorities this trip would be scenery, sights, food, relaxation, and a little hiking and swimming.

Any thoughts on Croatia vs. Greece?
