Thanks for the update. Good to know that AA is flexible in this regard. IIRC, the same thing is true when returning from overseas. The regional airlines, which have 20-30-40 kg. limits on Y/J/F classes, will extend the 2x70# baggage allowance if your regional flight and North American transoceanic flight are within 24 hours.
