Have you ever had to sit at the gate at IAD under the missing tiles and dangling power cables from the ceiling??
Seriously though - having the agents who can help you in the case of irregular ops, etc. is really beneficial. Plus having a nice semi-comfortable leather couch with some Pellegrino while watching CNN on the plasma screen can be nice. Despite the busy crowds INSIDE, it's much quieter and much more peaceful than the OUTSIDE. This all with everything that's been mentioned (having Wi-Fi access, somewhere to plug your phone in, somewhere you can actually grab some veggies and dip, etc.) makes it worthwhile.
Definitely nothing compared to the int'l RCC's, but for those who are always on the run, even the minute differences between the 'outside' and the 'inside' make it worth the cash or miles.
Cheers~
