I was thinking the same thing about cigarette lighters on saturday.
A couple of months ago, I flew on UA from TPE-NRT, and my lighter was allowed
through security - I thought there may have been a change in USA policies.

So I brought one with me Saturday heading on a flight to ORD. It was taken
away at the security check. Fine, I was expecting it.

But when I went into the smoking room after security, there were at least 10
lighters on the tables, and one CATSA security guard smoking in there as well!
I guess those were all " good lighters", and mine was the dangerous kind!
