If you are PLT before you leave for the trip, I would certainly email the hotel or try to amend your reservation to reflect your new status. I'm a big fan of emailing hotels to make sure that everything is in order and I feel it helps with upgrades.
Now, I wouldn't expect a huge upgrade but you never know. One bad thing about the ICH program is the inconsistencies in it.
CPs are usually pretty good though at honoring upgrades and the like. You should get points and stay credits, provided your room rate isn't too low. Did you say you booked it with a package deal?
If you don't get anything (make sure your number is in when you get there) then neve hurts to fill out the point discrepancy form. Have you tried a specific search on this CP and reports about it?
Finally, the AMB program is only for IC hotels, not CPs so unless you plan on travelling to those, I would say it's not worth it for you.
