Last week I purchased a ticket (on nwa.com) for my wife's travel to India. And today i notice that the price had dropped by a great margin $0.12 (yes, 12 cents).

the best fare guarantee is only if you find the same exact ticket within 24 hours or on the same day on another website.
separately, if the price of your itinerary drops by more than $25 at any time after you buy it, NW will issue you an ECV for the fare difference minus a $25 fee.
therefore, in the example you sight above, you are not entitled to anything.
I am only about 60% sure of my responses, so if someone knows differently please enlighten.
