I have not been to the Courtyard, but I stayed at the Marriott West Philly in February 2005. It was a weekend stay, and I was silver at the time so I did not have concierge access. The Marriott West Philly property is a nice hotel. It has a convenient location right off of 76 and 476. There is a Wawa's (a convenience store) across the street, and a McDonalds and an Exxon are nearby as well. The service at the hotel seemed to be a notch above a typical Marriott. The breakfast buffet at the Regatta, the main restaurant, was excellent. If you cross the Schuylkill River, you will run across some restaurants in the area. Some of them are within a mile of the hotel. It might be pleasant to walk there, but I did not go to any of them during my stay. This Marriott also has a really nice gym. It was compact, but they managed to squeeze a decent amount of dumbbells, weight machines and CV equipment in.

Plymouth Meeting is east-southeast of Norristown, an affluent suburb. The whole area around that part of metro Philly consists of suburban communities. During rush hour, you will share the road with a bunch of commuters who are driving to and from Central City. Traffic in the Philly area can be quite nasty during rush hour. If your company is willing to pay the extra cost, I would stay at the Marriott West Philly. You will be able to get into Philly faster for those cheesesteaks and for the Phillies games.
