Booking Advice - seat/flight selection

Hi there,
We are about to book our first cross-atlantic flight from LAX to London and I would love some advice from those who know Virgin Airlines best. My husband and I are both tall and we have a 14 month old who will also be travelling with us, so legroom is somewhat important. That being said, I would hate for our 14 month old to be woken up by lines of people waiting to use the washroom (if there is typically a line, I don't know!). We are probably just going to go with the economy class. It seems the upgrade is more expensive than the cheap tickets we found (248 each plus taxes - around $500 total PP).

My questions are:

(1) Travelling with the kiddo - we are being charged $25 each way - I am assuming that is just for ticketing and not for our son to have his own seat, is it? How much more would it be to book a seat for him?
(2) Has anyone used the Child Care Seat that Virgin provides?
(3) Which rows would afford the most legroom - but still allow us to recline? Are there some that may be quieter/more private?
(4) Do these special rows still have the tvs/amenities of the other rows?

Thanks in advance for your responses!
