As for the cabin bag weight, check BA.com and you will see it there. Under the cabin baggage section it states ' 1 bag 55x40x20 cm (22x16x8 ins) plus a briefcase or laptop 45x35x20 cm (18x14x8 ins) 18kg (40lbs) total weight, maximum of 9kg (20lbs) per piece'.
The trouble with the JSA agreement for the UK to Australia route is that we frequent users cannot actually get the information on what is in and what is out from certain parts of it. Hence we can use the BA Arrivals lounge in Y etc. Whilst non JSA routes the bag allowance is for QF operated QF numbered flights, I honestly have no idea about the JSA routes. It does get very obscure when you start in Canberra on QF metal QF number, leave SYD or MEL on QF metal and BA number and then change to BA metal and QF number as to which sector(s) if any, or all, you should get overweighted for.
I know that the 2x9 is the rule, but what is the rationale for it for the cabin bags?
When is BA going to give me a refund for being hand baggage only?
