I'm having trouble thinking of places that are not either too boring, or too exciting (our normal preference.) FYI our typical vacations last year and the year before included lots of scuba diving, kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, camping and generally roaming around remote places with very hot (or cold) climates. Oh, and anti-malarial pills, which are also not allowed now.

Even if we went to relatively safe places on my "to-do list" (Thailand, Hawaii, New Zealand, Alaska) I wouldn't be able to do most of the fun things I'd want to, so it seems a waste to go and just sit on a beach or deck chair.

Oh well, that's probably what I'll end up doing. Anyone got any better ideas?
Have you been to New Zealand before? If not, I would recommend it! Definitely the most senic place I've been to. Even if you cannot do much, just driving around the south island is a great experience (assuming you can sit in a car for long drives and not feel uncomfortable?). There is quite a lot to see without having to do all the buggy jumping, white water rafting, black water rafting, etc. Viewing the glazers from a helicopter, whale watching in the North Island, etc...
