Observation: the mod might have moved it since in other threads similar to this the topic drifted to chat about other airlines covered in the program, such as Delta and Northwest still facing a challenge. I really don't know but could see a volunteer knowing the history of other threads about AwardGuard.
Answer: Actually, as the guy that owns AwardGuard, you might have considered reading my prior posted advice and editorials in InsideFlyer as I on many occasions advised readers of the magazine and members of FlyerTalk to trust me that United would be just fine in the end and while it was sure to get scary and everyone else telling you to cash in your miles, good things would happen.
I'm glad to see they saved the mileage accounts for their 47 million members with minimal reduction in the overall benefits of the program.
I am confident that they will continue fine into the future. They will likely have a few hickups along the way and critics will still say they won't make it but i have well over a million miles in the program and practice what i preach. I do not think you need to renew your current AwardGuard membership just for United. You may continue the program for other interests and benefits if you so choose but I can say again, you will not be harmed of your United Mileage Plus miles.
Hope this helps.
