I know that the train doesn't quite reach as far north as Tromso but the railhead is but a short bus ride away.

Getting ready to spend a month in Norway and want to take a few days to see Helsinki and a few towns along the Finnish coast [Hamina, Vyborg, etc.], perhaps even a few days in St. Petersburg.

Unfortunately flying would involve routing back through Oslo or Copenhagen and a pleasant drive or train ride along the Gulf of Bothnia coast sounds preferable anyway.

So, any hints or suggestions from anyone who might have in the past made this trek would be greatly appreciated.
