I've been through it severa times and absolutely hate it. W/o baggage I timed it as 32 minutes from actually stepping off the plane to getting in a taxi. yes, that is WITHOUT a baggage wait and without a taxi queue. This added to the fact that when the taxi meter hits about 8.5 Euros you are just pasing the old terminals (so another 8 minutes or so). In the old airport I would estimate that it took me 10 minutes max to reach the same point. Therefore this monstrosity has added a MINIMUM of half an hour to your journey. Not only are the walks incredibly long, but often unnecessary (if one examines the architecture of the stairs, passport control, etc, one finds a LOT of added walkways, etc. The lounge is modern and clean, but also INCREDIBLY long, with food only actually available at one far corner, while more limited selections of drinks are available in the other areas. Yes the trainride is long and so far underground that I warn everyone to take the elevators, even with the wait as the multiple escalators are incredibly slow and numerous. Having been through it about 8 times thusfar, I have also lived through the ultimate nightmare, having a flight cancelled from the remote satellite, having to be FIM'd back to T2 and then have that flight canceled and have to go back to T4, this is easily a FOUR HOUR EXPERIENCE exascerbated by the fact that neither IB nor any of its partners maintain any presence in T1-3 and the compettors none in T4. This means a total breakdown in communication to the point that they refuse to actually interline eachothers bags between terminals (whether they have agreements or not) and refuse to take any responsibility for anything.

The only bright light is that MAD will need no further airport wors for the next 100 years!
