I'm not sure what to say here.
However I have worked for an employer before that did not pay travelling time as overtime so everyone would factor that in. For example, if a meeting was needed at somewhere that was 2 hours away, nobody would leave home that morning until 8:30 which was our normal start time.
If the meeting went past 3:00PM meaning we could not get home by 5:00PM, we would stay in a hotel and set off back at 8:30AM the next day. Sounds immature now, but at the time (<10 years ago) all my peer group rigidly adhered to this so if you didn't it became difficult.
I confess to bending the rules sometimes as well, ie booking in a slightly higher Y class to be eligible to use an u/g cert on AC but I think the OP is a bit wide of the mark with his / her tactic.
