I have been using wireless keyboards and mice for a long time. I get about a year out of them. the keyboards die, the mice die, the receiving units die. for a long time, I had two receiving units that worked. one on the mouse, one on the keyboard.

Just treat them as disposable items, and consider every day of the second year a gift..
