Consumer Reports took a look at cheap sets of luggage last year, including a set from e-bags. All of the cheap sets they reviewed fell apart during testing and were not waterproof. Their conclusion:
Bottom line: Buying an entire set of luggage that’s iffy for plane travel is a waste of money at any price. Consider putting your money toward better luggage that is more versatile.
I think you're much better off buying quality pieces that you need, rather than a cheap set that will likely not last and the comes with pieces that you probably won't use much if at all.
Edit: Another thing to note is that the Traveler's Choice page says nothing about the type of material used. The Kirkland pieces on their Web site say they are constructed using Cordura® ballistic nylon. This matters, IMO.
