Even if elgible, it is a big pain to get the credit if everything is not absolutely perfect.
There is need to pay more to get an eligable fare. As I pointed out N class , which is the only ineligable fare, is approx the same fare as the lowest supersaver with GST removed. e.g. on SYD-MEL, the base N fare with GST is USD61.60 and the S fare is only $11.40 more at USD72 and on AYQ-CNS, the S fare ex-gst is actually cheaper than the N fare with GST.

If travelling 2 or more longer sectors, do consider the LOZPAS fares. 2 or more sectors must be purchased before arriving in Australia but are good value and allow date/time changes without penalty whilst the normal fares have AUD38.50 change fee and no changes permitted on day of departure ( so no getting on an earlier flight if arriving early at the airport or running late and end up buying a new ticket )

If you book the flights on aa.com and add the AA FF number at the time of booking, then the number will be added correctly to the booking and there is a 99% chance that miles will credit properly

If booking via qantas.com, then following the instructions I have posted before ( see http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/disc...t=1446&start=0 for example) then the points will credit automatically

QF staff quite often add AA numbers in incorrectly ( just like AA does with QF numbers ime ) but following the steps to add the number, then all will be ok in nearly all cases
