Green tags, barcodes, and agents...oh my!
In DTW on Thursday night, I'm getting ready to board my Pinnacle flight back home. As is somewhat standard, the GA begins walking around the gate area, distributing green bag tags for carryons.
I've noticed recently Pinnacle has added barcodes to their tags...which is great. I didn't think that ol' printed number was going to do me much good if my bag was lost.
When she came aroudn to me, however, I already had one from my previous flight...and was holding the stub for it. I told her "it's ok, I don't need another one". She fired back that yes I did indeed need another one, and needed to write my destination on it. I then offered to save her a tag and just write the destination on my old one. I asked to borrow her pen. She said "absolutely not", and yanked the pen from within my reach...then gave me a new tag.
I suppose I don't mind Pinnacle asking me to retag each flight (anyone know if they're doing this because of lost bag complaints?) But I don't see much point when they're not telling people to tear the stub off...know what I mean?
