That sounds correct; FLYi was selling their tickets for about half of their operating costs. I realize that many people got used to those prices, but they were never sustainable fares.
Again, if FLYi had survived and United or USAirways or both went out of business, there would be the same complaints about FLYi's ticket prices.
FLYi's investors subsidized those rediculously low airfares with more than $600 million in investment capital that has evaporated (or more correctly, been put in your and VATraveler's pockets by subsidizing your travel expenses).
