I recently flew EWR to LAX on CO 1502 scheduled to depart at 7:35 PM. The incoming flight was late and started deplaning at about 7:15 PM.

As soon as the plane was ready we started boarding the plane. I was among the first to board and shortly after I sat down I heard the lead f/a make the following announcement:

"You are delaying our departure. Take your seats immediately otherwise we will not be able to make an on-time departure." No mention was made of the late arrival of the aircraft nor was any apology offered. The passengers, by the way, were boarding in an orderly and reasonably rapid fashion.

Somehow the onus was entirely on the passengers to complete the boarding in about 10 minutes and the resulting late departure would be entirely our fault.

Then, a few minutes later the same lead f/a made the following announcement, a rule for the passengers to observe during the flight:

"It is strictly forbidden to form a line to wait for the lavatories."

Upon hearing this I broke into an uncontrollable smirk and suggested to my seat mate that we should valiantly hold it in for six and half hours.

Finally, when it was time for the meal service, the food was also thrown at us. Although my warm sandwich didn't hit the floor, I was a little taken aback by such behavior. The f/a made no apology, just a sarcastic comment.

Finally, in this completely full flight, a passenger started to experience serious claustrophobia. He was stuck in the middle seat and only wanted to get up and stand in the aisle a liitle bit to relieve his anxiety.

The f/a's brusquely ordered him to sit down and, after a little discussion, he did so. I could see that this man in his fifties was in tears from the anxiety and the rude treatment he had just received.

When the two f/a's who ordered him to sit down continued down the aisle, they recounted the incident. One f/a (who had a British or perhaps Australian accent) loudly ridiculed the passenger, and audibly used the "F"word when describing him (as in: "what a f***ing loser).

The whole experience was shockingly unprofessional and unpleasant.
