By booking on the web, you'll have an electronic ticket so there won't be a need to visit a travel agent.

I too had trouble with AirAsia's system. I was ticketed but the checkin agent kept asking for my booking reference number. If you do reserve via the web, be sure to take the confirmation printout with you as proof of payment.
