Basically I travel for work a ton and want to bring my buddy with me in one of these trips. I want to use the BoA companion e-cert I have. The catch is, my work requires (no exceptions) me to book via our work travel agency (Amex corporate travel). Also I believe we get some corporate rate discounts off the higher fares.

So you can see where I'm going with this. Questions are:

1. Can my work travel agency book the second person using the eCert? (They proabably wouldn't even know what it is so I rather avoid this option)

2. Once booked, can I call AS and add the second traveler to my record? (I'm pretty sure answer is no here)

3. (what I'm hoping may work) Since i'm gold (no change fees), could I, after booking, call AS and have them "cancel" my itinerary and book a new record (with the second passenger using the eCert) and apply the credit of the cancelled itinerary towards the new one and pay the difference? What would happen to the corp discount though would I lose it?

Has anyone seen anything like this done?

(ps: answers like "I don't think so", "probably not" and "well you can try" aren't very helpful hehe)

thanks!
The companion fare must be ticketed at the same time as the regular ticket. What happened for LuizMiranda was a huge exception to the policy, and likely happened before they were converted to electronic. The airport can't ticket them at all now.

You can't use a companion fare with an already existing ticket or ticket credit. Again..it must be ticketed at the same time.

Talk to your agency and see if they have the capability. The companion fares are not valid with other discounts, so you may not be able to use it with a corp discount... and for some reason, I think now that they are electronic..they have to be booked through AS res or AS.com Your agency can talk to our agency help desk if they have questions.
