As a follow up, 2 things:

-I did receive stay credit
-They reference the terms and conditions point # 2

"2. To earn HHonors points for hotel stays, a Member must be a registered, paying guest at a participating HHonors hotel and meet all of the conditions described as follows...."

as being interpreted as you must be THE ONLY registered paying guest. I interpret it as being 'a' registered paying guest.
