We might have to wait a while before those birds leave the fleet. This may be a sale-leaseback transaction that will transfer ownership but allow TG to continue operating them on a long-term lease basis. With the government monkeying with TG's aircraft orders for balance-of-trade and current-account reasons, this could be driven by political rather than economic or operational factors. On the other hand, the buyer might well plan on having 'em converted to freight operations somewhere (one of the better uses for MD-11 aircraft these days), so they may leave TG's fleet after all. I'm just sayin' that it's not a foregone conclusion that TG will retire these birds.
