DUT got the ax because the FAA finally ruled that the runway there was too short for our 737 combi aircraft. If you ever got to fly in/out of DUT before they cancelled...you'll remember how fun it was. The pilot would taxi to the very end of the runway, put on the brakes, spool up the engines, and then let the brakes off. (The runway is only 3900 feet long!) The men and women who piloted 737's there had special training and certification to be doing so.
AS still "service" DUT by means of a contract with PenAir. They own and fly Saab 340's out there for us daily but we have exclusive control over the cargo and pax load on the plane.
