Yesterday in SLC - bizarre security "issue"

I just have to mention this... maybe someone on here is aware of what happened, maybe not.

Anyway, we're getting ready to board 2170 to CVG... just minutes away from FC boarding. They say there are some "issues" on board (over the PA) and that it will take a few minutes to get us on the plane. 10 minutes pass, and the redcoat gets on the PA tells everybody in the waiting area to "huddle" around the podium because he had something to tell us that was inappropriate to say over the PA system. This was an almost full 757, so there were quite a lot of people.

When everyone was gathered, he proceeded to tell us about the problem. Apparently, the ship came from ANC and someone during the flight decided to write some sort of message in Arabic on one of the galley carts. They did not say what it said, or even if they were able to get it translated... but they were taking it serious enough that they called in the "bomb squad" and had a dog check out the plane before we departed. They said it would take about an hour, and it was just about exactly one hour.

The whole situation was handled pretty well by Delta, but still many people were upset about missing connections (my base is CVG) and the board showed about 30 additional seats in coach available after the "fiasco." Perhaps some people were spooked, cause there certainly wasn't anything getting to CVG any faster.

Well, anyway, I thought the whole thing was pretty bizarre and worth sharing on here.
