EasyJet service at Cathay prices?
Anyone agree that BA's sleeper service stinks? On a recent flight from Dulles to Heathrow I was offered dinner in the lounge but did not have time to grab more than a snack after the marathon of getting through security. I fully expected to be served dinner on board and was never told prior to boarding that this was not available. I was very hungry and therefore nearly went ballistic when offered no more than a sandwich after take off. I pointed out the irony that people in steerage where getting a full dinner, whereas those of us in CW were getting a sandwich. After much eye-rolling from the cabin staff, some food was found for me, but they seemed to think it was my fault for not knowing this was a sleeper service flight.
The whole point of the sleeper service was blown out of the water at the other end of the flight when they woke everyone up about 1 hour 45 minutes before landing, turned on the lights, made announcements, served breakfast. IE, fully 25% of potential sleep time on board shot to hell.
Seems to me that the sleeper service is just a way for BA to save money, IE fewer crew and no food. Admittedly I had MFU'd, but if I'd paid $5k and been offered a sandwich, there might have been a bad air rage incident. In summary, those of us who want to eat, drink and make merry all night should be allowed to do so, whatever time of day or night the flight leaves.
