As a frequent LX flyer, I'd say that the Business seat on the A340 is quite comfortable. I certainly wasn't disappointed in the product. LX is certainly reliable, as far as I'm concerned. Improvements in the product would be welcome, but I don't have substantial complaints about the A340 Business seat. Admittedly, a new longhaul Business seat on the A330 would be especially welcome.
I continue to fly LX in First and in Business...longhaul mostly on JFK-GVA-JFK or JFK-ZRH-JFK. On these routes when I fly First, the cabin is usually full. I certainly haven't flown LX First across the Atlantic with more than 3 empty seats in the cabin
As for LX Business, I can sleep on the angle, just like I can sleep on CX's Business Class seat. At 6'1, I think the length of the LX seat in full recline is fine. In fact, I even prefer LX Business on the A340/A330 over BA Club World on the 744 or 777. BA's Club World seat is too narrow and the Club World cabin too crowded. I find inflight service on LX is better than BA too.
If one can't afford LX First (paid ticket, company expense ticket, or award ticket) then don't pine for or expect First Class service or amenities in Business. If you want a truly lie flat seat in Business, then fly on a carrier that offers the product!
