Can they legally do this? They were kind of upset about it, as they refused to allow them to buy a ticket unless they bought an extra one, the extra ticket was close to $1300.00 more!! is there any way for them to tell the airline to refund it? They were joking about taking a picture of them in the seat without using hte extra seat and sending it to the airline for reimbursement, which I am not sure will work.

I guess they can... after all, they're a private entity and can set their rules.
